Sarah and Adriana helping ETC, EngeyeEngeye Teen Connection (ETC) has come a long way in the last year, raising money, and getting more and more teens aware and involved. ETC held its first Café Night Fundraiser which raised money for Engeye Scholars to help develop a craft business for the villagers of Ddegeya village and other related projects.  The Café Night was a big success; many local teens performed musical numbers, and their friends and family learned about the mission of Engeye. ETC board member Adriana King also performed, complementing the bake sale and silent auction.

The second event was an “all you can eat” Pancake Breakfast held on November 7th at Journey UCC.  Engeye Board member and ETC advisor, Misty Richards, was the guest speaker.  We were able to raise $500 toward Sara Weinman's travel costs to visit Engeye in February 2011. Sara is "proud to be the first ETC board member to travel to the village of Ddegeya and meet the children we have been working to help." ETC had a similar pancake breakfast fundraiser in March of this year.

Music at ETC Cafe NightETC also helped at a “Shop for Good Alternative Craft Fair” on November 19th. All of the vendors have agreed to donate a portion of their profits to support the Engeye clinic. The ETC board members are working hard to spread the word about Engeye Health Clinic and Engeye Scholars.

Brian Hickey continues to design and update the Engeye Scholars/ETC website and has created online photo albums for all our Engeye Scholars so their donor families can see updated photos during the year. Sara attended the Do Something Social Action Bootcamp in NYC on November 13 learned new ways to help ETC get more teens involved. Brian, Adriana and Sara hope over the next year that more and more teens will hold their own bake sales, car washes, or fundraisers in their hometowns on behalf of Engeye.  It should be an exciting year!

The ETC board of directors includes Sara Weinman, Brian Hickey, and Adriana King. Together, these three inspiring teens and their peers have done an outstanding job of helping to educate about the people of Ddegeya Village, raising both support and awareness for Engeye.
