Engeye Build ZoneThe Engeye Design and Build Team is one of our most exciting partners. The international team is composed of two team leaders: Melissa Guerrero and Jacqueline Maldonado. The design team is developing Engeye's master plan so that the clinic's infrastructure develops sustainably, practically, and aesthetically as the clinic grows to see more and more patients.

The team recently travelled to Uganda in the summer of 2010, which led to the production of an initial assessment report for the Engeye Board of Directors. To view the report, click the picture below or find it on the Design Team's blog.

Melissa GuerreroMelissa Guerrero is a working landscape architect based in Los Angeles, California whose work seeks to empower communities and individuals through multi-functional designs that plug into ecological and social infrastructures beyond the site’s boundaries. Her design, research and curatorial efforts have focused on the mechanics of sustainable technologies and design as a form of activism. She received her B.A. in Archaeology from Columbia University and her M.L.A from Harvard’s Graduate School of Design.

Jac_headshotJacqueline Maldonado (nee Nakanyike) is a Ugandan native who applies her skills both regionally and globally from the greater Boston area. Using sustainability as common practice she seeks to revitalize urban landscapes and the nature of how structures function as living machines. As Assistant Editor, she collaborated with Keith Moskow, AIA to write and publish Sustainable Facilities (McGraw-Hill, 2008). As a student, she has presented her composting research  “Methane Gas and Landfill Reuse” to the Stanford continuing studies department, and is currently enrolled at the Boston Architectural College.
