Namugenyi Olivia

Laboratory Technician

Olivia is from the Kalungu district of Uganda and works as the clinic’s laboratory technician.   She finished her training at the Mbarara Medicial Laboratory School and came to Engeye Health Clinic (EHC) in 2013. She loves her job. She is a sweet and calm presence in the clinic among the boisterous and humorous other employees, but wouldn’t want the Engeye atmosphere to be any different. Before joining the Engeye team she worked at the Masaka Regional Referral Hospital, Kitagata Hospital, and Nkozi Hospital.

Oliva enjoys touring Uganda’s beautiful countryside, reading, and listening to music. She loves learning from and visiting with the American teams that volunteer at Engeye, and appreciates the interest they show in the employees. She also very much appreciates the great Mama Jackie cooked lunches that EHC employees enjoy daily. In her free time, Olivia loves to hang out with friends and read—her favorite book is Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. She aspires to one day attend medical school and become a gynecologist.
