In January, the visiting medical team hosted the 2nd Annual Teddy Bear Clinic. It was a resounding success and well attended by the Ddegeya community. Some of the benefits of the event include:
Reduce fear of doctors and the clinic: By turning the child into the "caregiver" and the stuffed animal into the "patient," kids can explore medical environments in a fun, non-threatening way.
Teach basic health and safety: Children learn about hygiene (like hand washing), healthy eating, vaccinations, and first aid.
Foster empathy and care: Kids gain a sense of responsibility and compassion as they help their stuffed animal feel better.
Introduce medical tools and procedures: Children become familiar with items like stethoscopes, bandages, thermometers, and more—making them less intimidating!
