Our third annual Scholastic Distribution was a huge success! Students in the Ddegeya region were provided with some necessary supplies to help them succeed this term! This is part of our commitment to improving education in the Ddegeya community! John Kalule, our co-founder and chairman, commented that "This is one way to identify the need in this community. The time their parents woke them up to come for these scholastics is indicative of the need and the depth of this initiative to this community."
A total of 23,040 books, 1,008 geometry sets, 7,860 pens, 23,040 pencils, and 7,680 sanitary pads were given to students in the Ddegeya community! We are so grateful that this initiative continues to grow every year and we wish all the students a successful term!
Engeye has donated school supplies and other educational resources to surrounding area schools in the Ddegeya region. In July 2024, Engeye held its first professional development for teachers on creating a collaborative and group-centered classroom approach. Additionally, Engeye's first team of teachers in July 2024 worked with area schools to allow them to introduce new and vibrant activities into their own classrooms with a collaborative focus.
The Engeye Scholars program supports the educational attainment of children by offering financial assistance to academically promising students of the Ddegeya, Uganda community. Currently, 13 students supported by Engeye are enrolled in university, boarding schools or trade school. Their scholarship through Engeye covers school fees, school supplies, supports their involvement in extracurricular activities in addition to covering their healthcare expenses.
Engeye recognized that while the Engeye Scholars program makes an enormous impact on a select group of students, Engeye can also broaden its impact and make a significant impact on a wider range of students. In 2025, the Engeye Learners Intiative was launched, in which 10 local students are enrolled in nearby St. Mary Letecia Secondary School and supported by Engeye. Their scholarship through Engeye covers school fees from S1 - S4, school supplies, supports their involvement in extracurricular activities in addition to covering their healthcare expenses.
